The Paediatric Ophthalmology service at Krishna Eye Centre has been started with the noble aim of protecting and giving a carefree childhood with perfect vision in our children.

At present the service provides evaluation and treatment for a full range of eye conditions that affect children like refractive errors, childhood cataract, glaucoma, amblyopia (lazy eye), squint and retinal disorders (such as premature retina), paediatric eye cancer (Retinoblastoma) and congenital anomalies like blocked tear ducts.

At Krishna Eye Centre, we have a dedicated specialist and equipment to diagnose and treat these diseases at the right time to ensure best outcomes and proper development of child’s eye and vision.

Squint or crossed eye is a condition where both eyes do not move together. One eye deviates either inwards, outwards, upwards or downwards while the other eye remains straight. It may also be alternating between the two eyes.

Treatment of squint requires a combination of glasses, exercises and surgery.

Several visual screening projects for school children, effective in detecting and treating visual defects at an early stage have been conducted by us.

Over the last several years, our Paediatric Ophthalmology team has been closely associated with NGOs like ANMOL, SUPPORT and LIONS CLUB INTERNATIONAL meeting visual challenges of the underprivileged children of our society.
